Welcome James. Great to have. You here. I’m sure you will be able to get that right after a bit of training.
December 8, 2014 at 3:52 am #28835Hi,I’m Neil. I play Blues guitar and love it. I don’t know how
to play by ear but I feel that it would definitely be worth my
time and effort to learn.December 8, 2014 at 3:59 am #28838@exman52 Hi Neil! Welcome. I play piano, dabble in different genres, but not a fan of classical music, so none of that.
I’m working on getting away from written music & trying to play by ear. So hear I am. Lots of great stuff here to help us out.
December 9, 2014 at 4:27 pm #28921@exman52 Welcome, Neil. My fiance plays blues guitar, too, and I’ve definitely developed a liking for it. We’ve got some helpful tips for guitar players, so that may be a place to start. http://www.easyeartraining.com/faqs/category/guitar/ Let us know if you have any questions!
December 12, 2014 at 9:50 pm #29062I’m Michal (pronounced Mic-kell) I am hard of hearing but I’ve always loved listening to music and just recently decided that I’d like to learn how to sing. I’m not looking to be a good singer or anything like that, just wanna be able to sing in tune. Also, I hope to get rid of the stereotype that deaf people cannot sing. It should be an adventure!
December 12, 2014 at 10:19 pm #29063Hi Michel and welcome! There is a brilliant app for this on this site called Singtrue it will really help you I think.

December 13, 2014 at 1:17 pm #29094Hi, my name is Rod and I have been learning clarinet for the past 3 years starting after my retirement.
Playing a wide range of music from a classical base but listening a lot to jazz and big band stuff.
I have developed some ability to read music notation but can’t play from memory to save myself even though I still remember the tunes I listened to in my teenage years.
Goal: To become a reasonably competent musician before my hearing and/or fingers give up on me.December 13, 2014 at 3:16 pm #29095Hi Rod, Welcome!
become a reasonably competent musician before my hearing and/or fingers give up on me.
LOL! You’re in the right place, lots of great ear training info here & in the forums.
December 13, 2014 at 4:35 pm #29097Welcome @mic095456: I love your passion and am interested to see the results! Best of luck, and be sure to check out our knowledge base about singing, ear training, and more.
Welcome @rodc: Clarinet is one I haven’t seen many play on the forums, so it’s nice to have a woodwind view! I think ear training will help you develop your skills further, and you may find that it helps you to play by ear and by memory a bit too. Let us know if you have any questions!
December 14, 2014 at 12:03 pm #29109@rodc Welcome Rod. It is nice to see people that are still willing to learn at such an age, as well as inspirational. I’m sure you will find exactly what you are looking for right here.
You will notice that the community members on these forums are very creative and just as eager to expand their musical knowledge as you are.
No one is too good or too bad at playing their instruments to be asked a question, so please share your experiences with us.
December 19, 2014 at 2:43 am #29210@mic095456: That sounds like quite the venture! Please document and report back.
December 25, 2014 at 2:26 pm #29387Hi! I’ve just started taking ear training seriously and it makes me want to pull my hair out. That being said, as a singer and songwriter I know it will help immensely. It’s my lack of patience that gets in the way. Grateful for a site like this to simplify the task.
Cheers!December 25, 2014 at 3:54 pm #29388@holly Welcome! You’ve found the right place to help with your ear training. I play piano, & I’ve had plenty of hair pulling moments myself! It does get easier. I’m still working on the quicker part. Now that the holidays are just about over, I need to get back in the swing of things. Hope I didn’t lose any ground.
